JOB DESCRIPTION

GHD’s Northeast Environmental Group is looking for a Field Technician to assist with the investigation, remediation and reporting of environmental remediation projects, and a Remediation Treatment Operator to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a groundwater remediation system associated with a 7-acre site in Niagara Falls. These positions will be based out of the Niagara Falls, NY office and will work on job sites throughout the region.

Environmental Field Technician responsibilities will include:

  • Environmental sampling of soil, groundwater and air
  • Documentation of all work in field notes, forms and electronic records

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • No prior experience required
  • Must possess good mechanical aptitude as well as solid troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work 80-100% of the time (this will include working outdoors in adverse weather conditions)
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification is a plus

Remediation Treatment Operator responsibilities will include:

  • Operation, Maintenance and Monitoring of environmental remediation system including groundwater collection/extraction system wells and pumps, landfill cap, and treatment system comprised of decanters storage tanks, sand filter, and carbon vessels
  • Field oversight of remedial contractors for routine maintenance items landfill cap maintenance, and mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Environmental monitoring and sampling of groundwater consistent with approved plans
  • Responding to system alarms remotely and occasionally in person
  • Documentation of all work in field notes, forms and electronic records

For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Up to 5 years of groundwater remediation experience
  • Familiarity with control systems for treatment equipment (i.e. SCADA/PLC/HMI)
  • Must possess good mechanical competence and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability and willingness to respond to system alarms including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification is a plus
