Industrial Site Characterization for Environmental Remediation - A Work Plan Development Example for a Site in Western New York & Site Visit

Please join us for a 2-part event! The first part will feature our May meeting and speaker, Tom Morahan sharing the Tonawanda Coke site characterization prior to remediation on Wednesday May 20, at The Polish Cadets from 5:30pm-8:30pm. The second part will be joint site tour with Air & Water Management Association (AWMA) Niagara Frontier Section to see the remediation design being implemented onsite. Registration for the site visit is REQUIRED. Required PPE and equipment for the site tour is  good walking shoes, long sleeve shirts/jackets depending on the weather, and high vis vests (can be provided if needed). The site tour will take place at the Tonawanda Coke site on Thursday May 21, from 4:30-6:00pm, at 3875 River Road, Tonawanda, NY, 14150. 

Bios -

Thomas Morahan, P.E.

Thomas J. Morahan is the outreach coordinator for the NYSCPG Board of Directors. He is also a Principal Scientist at New York State Professional Geological Services, PLLC and the Founder and CEO of egroup where he trains aspiring earth and environmental science professionals on projects and provides technical onboarding services. Mr. Morahan holds a BA in Geology from Rutgers University as well as an MS in Geology both with concentrations in chemistry. Currently chairs the Sustainability Technical Coordinating Committee of the International Air & Waste Management Association. He is also the Program Manager for the upcoming AWMA conference on Environmental Justice to be held in Washington DC in May 2022. Today, he will be presenting on Industrial Site Characterization for Environmental Remediation using the Tonawanda Coke Site in Tonawanda, NY as an example.
