President's Report
(President Cervi was not present, but put forth the following points in her agenda, that were touched on at the board meeting):
· NYSCPG donation of $2,000 was made and BAPG became a platinum member
As a platinum member we get some space on their newsletter, so maybe we can come up with a short (business-card size) ad for BAPG
· If we have not done so already, we need to make it known that the new policy is for the students to receive their free dinner at the second meeting they attend
· BAPG night out (need ideas - committee is F.C., L.C., G.F, others?)
Feedback on the Wilson Greatbach presentation was that it would not of a general interest for the spouses (Francine, may be you can bring him to one of the Fall meetings instead). So we need ideas. The Jet Ski idea is a good one, although cost may be prohibitive. The Graycliff tour was successful and we can repeat it since it looks totally different now (I have information one that). Another guided hike (like the one at the Whirlpool) may also be a good idea - does anyone have a contact to set one up with one of the area Parks? (Audubon may be a resource too)
· Night out was discussed at the meeting. Heather put together some ideas (already e-mailed to the board) and Francine suggested the Dinotopia exhibit at the Buffalo Science Museum. Francine and/or Heather will touch base with Lea and will then request an e-mail vote from the board to select an activity to go with for the BAPG night out.
· Other summer activities (need ideas and volunteers)
· Revision of brochure
· Several ideas were complied on one brochure, which Stephanie took and gave to Rick
· NYSCPG needs help with membership (Rick's email) - consider how we can help
Treasurer's Report
Gene's report was presented by e-mail. Account balances are:
· Checking: $4,508.94
· CD: $2,731.83
Student Involvement Committee Report
· A new committee will be formed in May
· Heather has started to compile a list of information on local schools, such as geology club advisors since we will be sending the scholarship letters to them in the fall.
· Heather and Dino suggested putting together a BAPG info flyer for graduating senior from Buffalo colleges. They will work on producing and distributing this flyer.
· Dino had several ideas for the student involvement committee to work on:
· Making a student section on the BAPG web page
· Hosting a "career expo" for students. It was suggested that we may want to combine this idea with Earth Science Day. Dino will talk to Jerry Bastedo about the idea and will work on developing it further.
· Dino recently attended a UB Pegrum Lecture to speak on BAPG
TSC Involvement Report
Dino presented a brief report. There have been no meetings recently. Patrick Filey will attend the next TSC meeting for BAPG. NOTE THAT DINO WILL SOON BE LEAVING TOWN FOR AN EXTENDED JOB ASSIGNMENT, POSSIBLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.
Earth Science Day Report
Dino presented a short report, including that the store EMS will have a display..
Geogram Editor's Report
· Deadline for May Geogram is May 1
· Rick currently has no information at all for the May Geogram
Webmaster's Report
· Included in the report is that there were 2,146 user sessions in March 2003
